I have a soft spot for herbariums. I know that the history of documenting the natural world is mixed up with colonialist aspirations, but there is so much to be said for being curious towards every lichen and shrub that catches our eye – next time you’ll be able to greet them by their name! This mug is a tribute to oakmoss, which is one of the lichens I see most of on my walks, especially during and after high winds. And if my pockets happen to look a bit swollen, well there’s a mystery for the ages.
